*** RCMP pilots with Air Services are part of the Law Enforcement Support Group, Pilot sub-group (LES-PT). Under this group, aspiring pilots will be required to hold peace officer status and successfully complete the Air Services Special Constable Member Training in order to meet the position requirements. Training will consist of approximately 9 weeks, to be conducted at Depot Division in Regina, Saskatchewan or another approved facility yet to be confirmed. Training costs will be the responsibility of the RCMP. Successful completion of this training is one of the job requirements. Should a candidate be unsuccessful, their employment will be terminated in accordance with Sec.9.4 .(1) of the RCMP Act. Successful applicants will be sworn peace officers, required to carry a firearm and be subject to use of force policies in the performance of their duties. ***

Duties

The employee is responsible for:
• providing support for a variety of airborne law enforcement operational activities, such as, but not limited to; flying aircraft for reconnaissance/ surveillance, integrated cross-border law enforcement operations, tracking criminals, rescuing and evacuating injured persons;

• assisting with prisoner and deportation escorts, detention of prisoners before or after flights, and transportation of operational members, exhibits and other hazardous materials in accordance with the Transport Canada issued Equivalency Certificate; and

• provide relief duties at other air bases and participate in major events.

Licenses/Certifications for a Rotary Wing Pilot:
• Rotary wing pilots must possess: A valid Canadian ATPL or CPL.
• An unrestricted Category I Transport Canada medical validation certificate.

EXPERIENCE
You must have a minimum of 3000 hours of Pilot-in-Command flight time
Note: Only selected candidates must provide a photocopy of the last three pages of their pilot’s logbook

EXPERIENCE
a) Certified on H120, H125 and H145
b) Helicopter Night flying – more than 50 hours
c) Night Vision Goggles qualification
d) Previously qualified to conduct Class D Operations such as Hoisting and Human External Cargo (HEC).
e) Recent flight experience – within the previous five-year period
f) Valid Helicopter Night Rating
g) Valid group 4 Instrument Flight Rating

Top Secret security clearance – RCMP Top Secret security clearance – This factor is not used at the pre-selection stage. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is responsible for the security clearance process.

All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.

RCMP medical requirement:
This factor is not used at the pre-selection stage. In addition to an unrestricted Category I Transport Canada medical validation certificate, the candidate must meet the minimal health standards as assessed by RCMP Health Services. This includes a full medical assessment, laboratory test(s), psychological examinations, vision, colour vision and hearing standards (color perception and visual and hearing acuity standards).

These factors will be used when the candidate is successful in the recruiting process. Aspiring pilots will be required to successfully complete the standard training, as listed below, in order to meet the position requirements:
• Must successfully complete the Air Services Special Constable Member Training.
• Must successfully complete the line indoctrination as indicated in the Air Services Rotary Wing Operations Manual (RWOM).
• Must successfully complete the Air Services Safety Management Training.
• Must successfully complete any additional required and/or recurrent training and qualifications as indicated in the Air Services RWOM, the Canadian Aviation Regulations and RCMP policy.


You must be willing and able to
a) relocate anywhere in Canada,
b) spend long hours in travel status (relief duties, training, overnights for regular flights etc), and
c) as Pilot in Command, accept all responsibility for decisions respecting the safety of aircraft and passengers in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
